Humanhood, an international dance company, requested our services to create an immersive website with strong aesthetics that represent them fully in values and essence.  

Humanhood are an international dance company, acclaimed for their unique, fluid movement and artistic intricacy. They required a website that would target their multiple audiences, who range from supporters to funders looking to commission their work. The website would become an extension of their productions, representing them fully in values and essence. We created a fully immersive experience by imbedding music and video, and using text animation and parallax effects to emulate choreography. Functionality was still a priority, so the site was built fully responsive with easy navigation and a CMS that could be easily adapted in-house.

Strategy and UX

To successfully relaunch Humanhood’s new brand image online, we created a content rich, fully responsive website that would appeal to multiple audience’s needs. Visitors are taken on a journey fusing light, sound and movement to recreate the Humanhood performance experience. We wireframed each page structuring the layout and website architecture, focusing on usability and consistent branding. The UX was enhanced with simple navigation and easy interconnection between their social media platforms. The website was built content rich with a CMS that could be updated by Humanhood, allowing them to adapt and change as frequently as needed. This met various audience needs, by displaying performance schedules and insights into the Humanhood team history. 

Design

The website design was clean and neutral, integrating the key influences and themes of Humanhood’s research. We established a style that follows current dance industry trends but preserved longevity, avoiding it dating prematurely. Imagery and video were important tools in conveying the personality of Humanhood and creating a fully immersive experience. Humanhood had high resolution, inspirational images of past performance which we were able to use across the website. The black background was contrasted with colour and imagery to deliver impact and emotion. 

Technology

The website was built with an easy to use CMS that could be updated in-house and a fully responsive design that allows the user to view the website on any device. The website would be primarily used as a marketing tool, so it was built with strong SEO capabilities to help drive traffic and enhance search engine rankings. An email marketing sign-up was implemented for regular correspondence and a newsletter. Social integration was an important asset, allowing the user to move seamlessly between the website and Humanhood’s social media pages.
