We created a marketing and eCommerce website for Laura Wall’s fantastic range of children’s books, Goose and Friends, to expand her online presence and sell directly to the end consumer.
Laura Wall is a Devon based artist, illustrator and creator of the loveable Goose and Friends children’s books, which sells in 40 different countries and has been translated into 10 different languages. One of our director's fell in love with Laura’s artwork whilst on a holiday to Cornwall, and as a result offered to create a website, complete with online store using our own eCommerce platform, to allow Laura to develop her Goose and Friends business. To match the big personalities of her vibrant characters, we created a bold and colourful website to showcase Laura’s talent and the lovely Goose brand. The integrated Purveya® platform allows Laura to effectively market Goose products and sell directly to the end consumer to increase sales and revenue without relying on third party websites.
Strategy & Analysis
While the website is primarily to market and sell Goose, we also wanted to inject Laura’s own personality and talent as an artist. The website is written in the character of Sophie as she tells the story of Goose, integrating the books’ characters and storytelling with a clear navigation to provide the end user with a fun experience in finding products and information. On the homepage there’s the ability to advertise key products for direct sales, since the primary aim of the site is to generate increased sales and awareness of Laura and Goose. A wireframe helped ensure that navigation was logical, and the website itself was visually striking with bold colour and large illustration.
The website design had to be inline with branding and continue to appeal to children. To do this, we made sure that the entire site was bright and colourful with lots of illustrations and large imagery. We even included some small animations to continue the fun of Goose and appeal to children. The design and imagery showcases both Laura’s own skill as an artist and illustrator, and the high quality of the Goose brand and related products. With an increase in mobile users, the mobile design was also just as important, if not more so, than the desktop. The website was therefore also designed to be fully responsive without losing any of its vibrancy on a mobile device.
The Goose and Friends website sits on the Purveya® eCommerce software platform. Through Purveya®, Laura can market and sell a wide range of products from the books themselves to clothing, toys and even wall stickers. Product and list pages all continue the bright and visual focus without compromising the website’s ability to provide information. There is also an integrated blog on the website as well as an embedded video on the homepage to continue engagement whilst also showcasing even more about Laura and Goose.
