PHP (Full-stack) Developer 

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Full-stack PHP developer to join our growing software development team. 

The successful PHP Developer will work primarily on implementing and maintaining back-end functionality within new and existing websites and web applications. Although we have a dedicated Front-end Developer, the PHP Developer will also be required to work on front-end projects occasionally, depending on workloads and deadlines. It is imperative that the PHP Developer has excellent PHP knowledge as well as the following: 

Essential:

  • University degree in Software Development or a similar technical profile
  • Minimum of 1-year commercial experience
  • PHP 5.6 / PHP 7
  • MySQL 5.6
  • JavaScript
  • HTML / CSS / SCSS
  • Clear understanding of HTTP, DNS, Git, SSL
  • Basic understanding of web servers (LAMP)
  • Work as part of a team but also independently
  • Attention to detail and able to work to deadlines
  • Time keeping skills 

Desirable:

  • Craft CMS / ExpressionEngine / Magento 2
  • Gulp / Bower / NPM
  • JIRA / BitBucket
  • Symfony / Zend / Laravel / Yii
  • PHPUnit / Behat
  • Amazon AWS services: EC2 / S3 / Lambda
  • Design patterns 

Responsibilities:

As a PHP Developer at Burnthebook you will be responsible for scoping, estimating, developing and testing websites and web-based software. You will be heavily involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle – from the initial planning stages to implementation and maintenance. You will be required to follow best development practices with regards to writing, testing and documenting your code. You will report directly to the Web Development Manager, but you will be required to work closely with the project management, design, development and sales teams on a day-to-day basis.
